Yankees 2022 Offseason Moves to Improve the Team
The first thing I would do is trade Luke Voit. Voit is just an extra player that the Yankees don’t need. There are other first basemen that are better. For example, Freddie Freeman is a tremendous on base hitter that they need. Ending the 2021 season, he had .300 batting avg, 31 HR and 83 RBIs. He is also a really good fielding first baseman. Even though he might be expensive, it is a great swap to make. Trading Voit for a prospect would be adequate because it would be better for the team long-term. They need to trade Chapman because he is a disgraceful pitcher. Since 2019, Chapman’s ERA has gone from 2.21 to 3.36. He is about to turn 34 years old as well. Since the Phillies need a closer, the Yankees could trade Chapman for DiDi Gregorious. To replace Chapman, they can sign Kenley Jansen, who finished with a 2.22 ERA for the LA Dodgers last year.
